Luang Prabang Tours

Situated in the center of northern Laos, Luang Prabang is the ancient capital of Laos and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Located on a peninsula formed by the confluence of the Mekong and Khan rivers, Luang Prabang is a charming city with an array of Buddhist temples and a mix of Lao and French architecture. With temples dating back to the 16th century, Luang Prabang continues to be the spiritual and religious heart of the nation.

Luang Prabang City & Kuang Si Falls One Day Tour Package

ITINERARY

We will depart from your hotel at 8:00 am. We will first visit the former Royal Residence which now serves as the National Museum. We will also see the Pra Bang statue – the Buddhist statue which was a gift to King Fa Ngum from the Angkor kingdom in 1359.

Next, we will visit Wat Visounalat, known as the “Watermelon Stupa” and Wat Xieng Thong. Wat Xieng Thong is one of the most important temples in Laos and was built around 1560 by King Setthathirat on the banks of the Mekong River.

Later in the morning, we will explore what life is like in local villages outside of Luang Prabang. We will visit a Hmong and a Khmu village. Almost half of Laos’ population is composed of ethnic minorities.

After visiting the villages, we will go to the beautiful Kuang Si Falls. Kuang Si is a series of waterfalls highlighted by the spectacular 60 meter (200 ft.) cascading waterfall. There are a number of turquoise blue pools which are perfect for a refreshing swim.

Later in the afternoon, we will return to Luang Prabang. If you’re feeling fit, we can finish the day by climbing to the top of Mt. Phousi. At the top of the hill, and at the base of a sacred stupa, there are stunning views of the city, Khan and Mekong Rivers. It’s the perfect place to watch the evening sunset!

Luang Prabang City & Pak Ou Cave Tour One Day Tour Package

ITINERARY

Next, we will board a boat for a cruise up the mighty Mekong River to the Pak Ou Caves. The caves are set in dramatic limestone cliffs located at the convergence of the Mekong and Ou rivers. Over the centuries, thousands of Buddha statues have been left in the caves by those making a religious pilgrimage to this holy site. On the way to the caves, we will make a stop at Xang Hai village which is known for its production of rice wine. Here, you can witness the distillation of rice whisky. Before the journey back to Luang Prabang, we will have lunch at a riverside restaurant.

Elephant Ride and Tad Sae Falls Half Day Tour Package

ITINERARY

You will be picked up at your hotel by our English speaking tour guide at 9:00 am. Leaving Luang Prabang, we will follow the Nam Khan river valley to the Elephant Village. The Elephant Village is a privately owned elephant camp and tour destination approved by the Lao government and operated by international specialists and volunteers who focus on the protection and rehabilitation of elephants in Laos.

Upon arrival at The Elephant Village, you will receive a briefing about how to handle elephants and also learn about the activities of the Elephant Village. When you’re ready to ride, you will climb on to the elephant for an exciting elephant adventure.

After your elephant ride, we’ll take a boat ride on the Nam Khan River to Tad Sae Waterfalls. These beautiful, cascading falls are perfect for exploring, swimming or just relaxing. So bring your sandals, shorts or swimsuit! (Please note that, in the dry season, the falls have limited water from March thru July)

After your visit to Tad Sae Falls, you will return by boat to Elephant Village for lunch on the banks of the Nam Khan River. Following lunch, we will return to Luang Prabang and you will be dropped off at your hotel.
